What will mediation involve?

In a nutshell it will involve us firstly meeting each other separately to ensure that the case is suitable for mediation and if it is then it will involve our mediator having a number of meetings with you both together in the comfort of our offices when our mediator will try to help you resolve your issues by you reaching an agreement.

How much will it cost?

• Your mediation might be provided free of charge. We hold a contract with the Legal Aid Agency to provide legally aided family mediation to clients who qualify financially.  We will be able to carry out your financial eligibility assessment.  If you do qualify then the mediation will be free to you.
• Even if you do not qualify for legally aided mediation then you will find that our charges are lower than most other mediation providers.
• Our family mediation service could save you thousands of pounds in legal costs that you would otherwise spend arguing your case through the courts.

How long does it take?

The mediation process itself begins with your first individual meeting with the mediator who will make sure that the case is suitable and, if it is, an appointment will be made for you to attend a meeting together. Most cases take about two to four joint meetings. Each meeting usually lasts no more than ninety minutes.

Do I still need a solicitor?

You will need a solicitor to provide you with any legal advice that you might need during the process as the mediator can only provide legal information to you both.  You may also need a solicitor to help you turn any agreement into a court Order.
