LPA Court Fees to Increase to £92 from November 2025: What You Need to Know

The Ministry of Justice has announced an upcoming increase to the application fee for a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA), with the change due to take effect from 17 November 2025.

From 17 November 2025, the fee for registering an LPA will rise from £82 to £92.

This fee applies per LPA application. So, if you’re registering both a Property and Financial Affairs LPA and a Health and Welfare LPA, you’ll be paying £184 in total after the change (up from £164 currently).

The government states that the increase is necessary to ensure the OPG can continue providing a high-quality service amid rising administrative and operational costs.

If you’re on a low income or receive certain benefits, you may be eligible for a fee remission or exemption. From the same date (17 November 2025), the income threshold for partial fee remission will also rise from £41 to £46 per week, which may make more people eligible for support with the higher costs.

If you’re planning to register an LPA soon, you may want to consider submitting your application before 17 November 2025 to benefit from the current lower fee. It’s important to ensure your application is received (not just posted) by the OPG before that date, as the new fee will apply to all applications received on or after 17 November.
