MKB Solicitors are proud to announce that Senior Partner Glyn Staves, Head of Dispute Resolution, has been appointed as a Part-Time Deputy District Judge by the Lord Chancellor and Lord Chief Justice.
Glyn has been selected from 1,600 applicants following a rigorous application process administered by the Judicial Appointments Commission. All applicants were judged on merit alone measured by five core qualities: intellectual capacity, personal qualities, ability to understand and deal fairly, authority and communication skills, and efficiency.
Glyn will sit as a Deputy District Judge on the South Eastern Circuit once he has completed his judicial training.
Glyn has practised in the area of Dispute Resolution for over 15 years, and joined MKB in 2014. He advises on complex and high value litigation in the County Court, High Court and Court of Appeal. Glyn is also a qualified and accredited mediator.
Glyn will use his experience as a Judge on disputes at MKB, bringing a rare judicial insight to our clients to assist them in achieving favourable outcomes.
Steven Dawson, fellow Senior Partner at MKB, said: “We are thrilled that Glyn has been appointed to the judiciary. This appointment has been achieved through sheer hard work and as a result of the significant experience Glyn has acquired in his practice area. The dual role of Solicitor and Part-Time Judge will improve our offering as a firm to our clients.”
Glyn commented: “I am pleased to announce my appointment as a Deputy District Judge. This is something I have pushed to achieve for a number of years and I am delighted to have been selected for this role. My new role will go hand in hand with advising clients of MKB, and will, in my view, add to the level of service we as a firm are able to provide. It will distinguish MKB from other law firms in the area.”
