FAMILIES URGED TO ACCESS THE FAMILY MEDIATION WHILST THE VOUCHER SCHEME IS STILL LIVE………

The ‘Family Mediation Voucher Scheme’ is a time-limited scheme, designed to support people who may be able to resolve their family law disputes outside of Court.

The Government set up the scheme in response to Covid-19 to support recovery in the Family Court and to encourage more people to consider mediation as a means of resolving their disputes, where appropriate. To support this, a financial contribution of up to £500 towards the costs of mediation may be available to you if eligible.

The scheme is available for children cases or all issues cases (where there are both children and financial issues).

Government data shows the scheme has cost an estimated £15.9 million but saved around £85.6 million by diverting cases from Court, significantly easing pressure on the overstretched Court system.

The scheme is guaranteed until the end of March 2026.  However, the scheme’s future is uncertain without a clear long-term plan.  Many mediators have urged the government to assess the scheme’s success and put a sustainable funding model in place beyond March 2026.

The time is now to act if you are considering family mediation and wish to find out if you are eligible for the funding towards the costs of mediation.
