The Cooper Memorial Garden is set to get a facelift thanks to a partnership between MKB Solicitors, Community Payback and Barnsley Council.
The garden, next to St Mary’s Church, Church Street, Barnsley, is home to memorials to the Barnsley Pals and those who served in Normandy, the Barnsley National Reserve Club Memorial Cross, the Spanish Civil War, Burma, Silkstone to the Somme plaque and memorials to both world wars.
But the path used by elderly veterans during the annual Armed Forces Day celebrations has become uneven.
Glyn Staves, Senior Partner at MKB said: “We had been looking for something we could get involved in and the subject of the garden came up. It is a little bit off the beaten track but we have some employees who use it and it also features a bench previously donated by us, dedicated to one of our colleagues Christopher Scholey. We hope it will be a useful and lovely way to give back to the community”
