Having completed her Law Degree and Legal Practice Course at Leeds Metropolitan University, Joanna began her training contract in July 2008. Following her successful training Joanna qualified as a solicitor in July 2010. Joanna joined MKB in 2018 where she specialises in all aspects of Private Client Law which includes:-
- Tax Planning
- Estate Administration
- Lasting Powers of Attorney
- Registration of Enduring Powers of Attorney
- Applications to the Court of Protection
- Assisting and advising Attorneys and Court of Protection appointed Deputies
- Creation and Administration of Trusts
Joanna is currently the only Solicitor in Barnsley that is a full accredited member of the Solicitors for the Elderly organisation and therefore specialises in advising older and vulnerable people and their families and carers. As an SFE lawyer, Joanna has undertaken additional specialist training in older client law to qualify for the Older Client Care in Practice Award, which is independently accredited.
Joanna prides herself in advising clients with communication that is clear and straightforward and understands the issues affecting older and vulnerable clients and follows a strict code of practice that has respect and dignity at its heart.
Joanna will always go above and beyond for her clients and provide support that is tailored to their needs and individual circumstances.
In addition Joanna is also a Dementia Friend Champion having completed her training in August 2015. She provides businesses, individuals and schools with information on dementia thus creating Dementia Friends. The main focus of the sessions is to raise awareness and understanding of dementia which in turn helps those living with dementia.
Away from the professional scene Joanna is a mum to two young girls and enjoys spending time as a family and together they have found a new love for camping and outdoor adventures.
