David began his career at MKB in 1971, qualifying as a solicitor in 1977 after gaining a distinction in Property Law in his Law Society Final Examinations.
He became a Partner in the firm in July 1977 and Head of our Commercial and Property Departments. In December 2015 David retired from his role as a Partner but continues on as a Consultant to the firm.
His specialities are –
- Commercial Property – averaging 50 transactions a year.
- Business Asset Sales and Purchases – averaging 25 transactions a year.
- Company Sales and Purchases – averaging 14 transactions a year.
- Domestic Property Transactions – averaging 300 transactions a year.
- Building Development Sales – approximately 48 development site property sales.
David’s wealth of experience on all things business and property related, his strong links to Barnsley business, dry sense of humour and no-nonsense approach to dealing with issues on behalf of his clients – make him the first call for many in our area.
As a former Member of the LLP and its longest serving solicitor, David has been said to eat, sleep and breathe MKB. Having said that, David is also a devoted family man, keen golfer and enthusiastic member of Silkstone Golf Club. In the past managing to find time to represent Great Britain in trap shooting at international level.
David was awarded the top award at the Yorkshire Legal Awards. At a glamorous evening hosted by Steph McGovern of BBC Breakfast at the New Dock Hall, Royal Armouries in Leeds on 16th October 2014, namely the prestigious Yorkshire Lawyer of the Year award.
These awards are rarely bestowed upon Firms outside Leeds and Sheffield (areas such as Barnsley, Wakefield and Huddersfield very rarely feature in these awards) and we are incredibly proud of David for this once in a lifetime achievement.
