MKB Solicitors raise £1,000 for local charity BIADS

Barnsley law firm MKB Solicitors has raised £1,000 for local charity BIADS who provide dementia support in the town.

As part of a new initiative, MKB fundraise over 12 months for a chosen Charity of the Year, and have recently concluded their fundraising efforts for BIADS. These funds will be utilised to help fund a carer support service run by BIADS which provides face-to-face and telephone support for 200 families affected by dementia at any one time in the Barnsley area.

As well as fundraising during 2016, MKB sought to help BIADS in other ways over the year and in doing so renovated new premises acquired by the charity at Holly House, to extend BIADS’ service offering from their residence at Joseph Exley House, and a Partner at MKB, James Burgess, has joined the Trust Board of the Charity to assist in managing the charity in the long term.

BIADS’ Chief Officer, Linda Pattison, said “We would like to thank all the team at MKB Solicitors for their fundraising efforts on behalf of BIADS. The £1,000 raised will be used to kick start BIADS’ Carer Support SOS Appeal, which we have launched to fund our carer support service for six months after identifying a £15,000 shortfall in funding.”

Ben McFeely, a Partner at MKB, added “We were delighted to fundraise for BIADS after witnessing first-hand the great work they are doing in Barnsley to support people affected by dementia. We are aware of the tight budget BIADS have to work within to provide this invaluable dementia support and we’re very pleased to see that these funds will be invested directly into a much needed local service supporting carers of those affected by dementia.  We urge other local businesses to get in touch with BIADS to learn more about the work they do and help them bridge the funding gap in this service via the BIADS’ Carer Support SOS Appeal.”
