MKB Solicitors nominated for two awards at the Yorkshire Legal Awards

MKB Solicitors has been nominated in two categories at the prestigious Yorkshire Legal Awards to take place at New Dock Hall, Leeds on 12th October 2017. Senior Partner, Glyn Staves, is nominated for the Rising Star Award and the firms Private Client department is nominated for the Private Client award.

We hope to follow up recent success at these awards as Managing Partner at the time, David Wright, won the top award, Yorkshire Lawyer of the Year, in 2014 and we came away with the Yorkshire Law Firm of the Year (1 – 10 Partners) award last year.

Recognising a remarkable rise to prominence in the regional legal market, Glyn Staves has been nominated for the success he has achieved at a young age. Joining MKB in 2014 after qualifying as a Solicitor in 2011, Glyn was promoted to Senior Partner within 2 years at the age of 31, and has led the Dispute Resolution department at MKB with distinction. Glyn’s ambitious nature has seen turnover for the department rise by 400% over three years, with expertise particularly being demonstrated in the utilities and property sector. Glyn has also qualified as an Accredited Mediator, with a strong emphasis on alternative dispute resolution within the department.

MKB’s Private Client department is a team of 8 and is the largest in the Barnsley area. Led by Senior Partner and former Sheffield Law Society President, Steven Dawson, their level of client satisfaction and attention to detail has seen them grow an enviable reputation across South Yorkshire. Advising high net worth and prominent individuals in the region, the Private Client department has grown significantly in terms of turnover and headcount in recent years. Their work in the community within Education, Legal and the Charitable sector has also been noted.

Glyn Staves commented, “I was very pleased to hear of my personal nomination, but this does in fact recognise the efforts of all my team in the Dispute Resolution department who have all contributed to our recent success. I am also grateful for the opportunities presented to me at a young age in this profession which has allowed me to form the team I now lead.”

Steven Dawson said, “It is a notable achievement to simply be nominated for such prestigious awards given the widespread entries from law firms across Yorkshire. I am pleased we have again been recognised by the Yorkshire Legal Awards, particularly in our 50th year in business, which has come as a result of the hard work and dedication of our tremendous team at MKB. I must say a personal thank you to the Private Client team that work tirelessly on a daily basis to provide the level of client service that has come to be expected at MKB.”
